I was browsing for inspiration to work on foss , and found your mail about your experience in setting up LUGB. Kudos on that!..
Anyways, I am B.E graduate(2009) in Computer Science from SJCE Mysore, Karnataka. Though a graduate in CS, I really got inspired to Open Source late in my engineering life. So by the time this happened I was already in corporate world.
I’m beginner in Open Source world and posses moderate programming skills. I’m fluent in C,C++, Java like all others and I’m doing my bit learning Perl and now Python.
I m currently working on Android. I have been exposed to MySQl , CGI, PHP and Perl before.
This message to you is really because I want to contribute to Open Source , but don’t know how and where to do it. I need guidance and could really use some help.
Like you , I am programmer at Heart and engg student by choice. I tried for GSoc 09 but din’t make it through, after which I made a mistake of giving up. Now I really want to work and make my contribution to the Open Source world.
All I’m looking for is a Place/Person/Organisation that can act as my mentor an help me increase my programming skills and parrallely contribute to Open Source.
